A Nature Photo thread (Discussion)

albrecht saidThu, 31 Jul 2008 19:52:57 -0000 ( Link )

I’m pretty far from being an avid photographer but when I do set out to take lots of pictures the outdoors and nature have to be some of my favourite subjects.

Let’s share our personal photos here of wildlife, flora & fauna, landscapes, etc. Whatever you want that might fit into this community!

The sea meets the sky in a clash of blue! This was taken on the beach in the Dominican Republic.

Looks really good! The best thing about photographing nature is that you’re not stealing anybody’s soul!

Also, the community avatar is really cool, with the reflection and everything. Any information about that one?

This is an interesting picture, the fog lifts to reveal a waterfall on the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska.

This was taken in Twillingate, Newfoundland just along the coast in April. It was still very cold there and within the shot, the tide would come in and out making the ocean look as if it were breathing.

Cool picture Krista! The bottom part reminds me of ice cream with cookies… nice.

This was taken from a cliff view on Belle Island right by St. John’s, Newfoundland. You can’t really see it in this picture, but the drop to the water is just incredible. Belle Island is the biggest island in Conception Bay.

@oLahev – The community logo picture is from the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Although I’ve been there, I can’t take credit for the picture. I love it when a photographer captures that water reflection as well. It’s so cool that water and light can combine to create a perfect mirror image. Sometime you can’t even tell which is real and which reflection.

I can’t take credit for taking this picture, but I was standing beside the guy who did! This is a male caribou that wasn’t spooked at all by us interrupting his lunch while hiking in Newfoundland,

Great shot of the Caribou. You wouldn’t want to be at the wrong end of those antlers.

That’s what a caribou is??? I always thought it was a weird duck-like fat creature of the north for some reason…

Well, you learn something new every day.

This thread seems to have quieted down – so I will add some more of my more nature photos from my most recent trip to Taiwan. I was glad this close-up of the flower turned out as they can often be tricky!
